When do I need a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina?
Whenever a project needs sealed engineering drawings or calculations. Structural changes to a building, foundation and retaining wall design, septic and stormwater design, and most commercial permits all require a PE seal. A building inspector will say so before a permit is issued.
