About MyTriangleServices

MyTriangleServices is built and run by MyPrivateAPI, LLC, a Triangle resident with years of experience in software engineering, marketing, and security.

It started with my own house. I've had a lot of work done over the years, and finding contractors and businesses that actually cared was harder than it should have been. Every time I needed a quote I'd find myself repeating the same story over and over, the same measurements, the same photos, the same “here's what I'm trying to do,” to one company after another, then bracing for the high-pressure sales pitch that followed.

So I built the thing I wanted: a way to send one project or job to several local businesses at once and get quotes back, without spending hours on the phone, and without the pressure. You describe the work once. The right local companies see it and respond. You compare, and you pick. That's the whole idea.

Alongside that, MyTriangleServices is an honest directory of Triangle-area home-service businesses, with real reviews, license verification, and a grading system that can't be bought. A business can't pay to raise its grade or to jump your phone call ahead of a better-rated competitor. That's deliberate, and it's the point.

How this is paid for

Businesses can pay for a plan, and they can pay for leads we send them. That is the whole business model, and it is worth being specific about what it does not buy.

A paid plan does not move a grade. It does not put a business above a better-rated one in a list, it does not remove a review, and it does not stop us publishing something true about them. Everything a plan buys is additive: a contact form, photos, videos, offers, their own site. The grade is computed from the record and the reviews, and there is no code path that lets money touch it.

We say this plainly because the opposite is the normal arrangement in this industry, and because a directory that sells its rankings is worth nothing to the person reading it.

What we check

Licenses are verified against the North Carolina state boards rather than taken from what a business typed into a form. Permit records come from the jurisdictions that issued them. Reviews are from people who used the business, and a business can reply to any of them but cannot delete one.

When a business tells us something that the public record contradicts, we say so on their profile, with the claim, the record, and a link to the record. That notice comes down as soon as the profile is corrected, and we publish the correction too.

What we are not

We are not a contractor, we do not take a cut of the work, and we are not affiliated with any business listed here. Listings exist because the business operates in the Triangle, not because they asked to be here or paid to be.

We also do not pretend to be neutral about everything. Grades are our opinion, derived from a published methodology you can read and argue with. A business that thinks a grade is wrong can contest it, and we publish the outcome either way.
