Privacy Policy

We collect the least we can get away with. We don’t sell your data. We don’t store raw IP addresses. If you write a review, your first name and last initial are published and your email address is not. If you ask us to delete something, we will.

Nothing is required, no account, no login.

We count page views ourselves, without cookies. For each page we record the path (never the query string), where you came from, your rough device type, and a one-way hash of your IP address and browser. That hash is salted with a secret that changes every day, so it can tell one visitor from another today and cannot link you to yesterday. We do this to know which pages people find useful. It sets no cookie and follows you nowhere.

When you view a promotion we record that it was seen, with the same daily hash. Businesses pay for that placement and are entitled to know the numbers are real.

Google Analytics. If it’s enabled on this site, Google sets cookies and receives your (truncated) IP address, the pages you view, and standard browser information, under their privacy policy. Our own counting above is what we actually rely on; Google’s is supplementary. If you’d rather not be counted by them, any tracker blocker stops it, our first-party count is unaffected either way, and we’re telling you that rather than pretending blocking us is impossible.

• Published: the name you enter, your rating, what you wrote, any trait scores, and any photos you attach. Enter your name the way you want it shown, we suggest a first name and last initial.
• Never published: your email address. It exists so we can check you’re a real customer if the business disputes your review, and so we can reach you if it’s challenged. The business never sees it, not on their profile, not in their dashboard.
• Kept privately: a hash of your IP, your user-agent, and your anti-spam score. These exist to catch review bombing.
• What you paid, if you tell us, is only ever published pooled with other customers, never on its own, and never beside your name. We won’t show a price at all until at least 5 people have reported one for that trade in that city.

Your answers and contact details go to the companies matched to your job, and to nobody else. How many companies depends on the trade, and we tell you which it is before you submit, one for an exclusive match, up to three for a shared one, or everyone eligible for open bidding, where nobody gets your number until you pick them.

We do not sell your details as a list, we do not pass them to anyone you weren’t matched with, and we do not share them with data brokers.

We record the entry, the day, a hash of your IP and your user-agent, every vote, as a separate record. Contests get gamed, and this is what lets us find and remove fake votes afterwards. We keep them for the life of the contest plus one year, so a disputed result can be examined.

We keep what you tell us, your role, work email, phone, and a record of who approved or rejected the claim and why. That record is how we resolve it later if someone else claims the same business.

Very few people, and none of them are advertisers.

• Cloudflare Turnstile, the invisible anti-spam check on our forms. It sees your IP and browser signals. We chose it over reCAPTCHA specifically because it doesn’t feed an advertising profile.
• Our hosting and database providers, they store the data on our behalf and don’t use it.
• Google Analytics, where enabled, see above. It is the only third-party tracker on this site, and it is not required for anything to work.
• A business’s own analytics, if you visit a website we host for them (theirname.mytriangleservices.com). Those sites may run their own Google Analytics. That’s their tracker on their site, disclosed here because the domain is ours.
• Companies you contacted, only the ones matched to your request.

We do not sell personal information. We have never done it and the business model doesn’t need it.

License records come from the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors and are public record, names, business names and addresses are published by the state, not by us. If a record is wrong it has to be corrected at the board; we pick up corrections on our next sync.

• Published reviews: indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove yours.
• Reviewer emails: as long as the review is published.
• Anti-spam records (IP hashes, user-agents): 12 months.
• Page-view records: 90 days in detail, then kept only as daily totals per page with no visitor identifier at all.
• Contest votes: the contest, plus a year.
• Leads: 24 months, so a billing dispute can still be settled.

Email [email protected] and we’ll action any of these:

• A copy of everything we hold about you.
• Correction of anything wrong.
• Deletion of your review, your lead, or your data. Reviews are people’s opinions and we don’t remove them because a business asked, but we absolutely remove them because you asked.
• Removal from any email we send.

No account required to ask, and we won’t make you jump through hoops to prove it’s you beyond what’s needed to be sure.

This site is for adults hiring contractors. We don’t knowingly collect anything from under-13s. Some categories (childcare, daycare) are about children, the reviews are written by their parents.

If we change this in a way that matters, we’ll date it here and say what changed rather than quietly reissuing it.

July 15, 2026: added first-party, cookieless page-view counting, and disclosed Google Analytics. An earlier version of this page said we embedded no third-party trackers; that stopped being true when Google Analytics was added, so we changed the page rather than leave it saying something we no longer do.
