Searching by name, or by trade?

Both work, and they answer different questions. Which one you want depends on whether you already have a company in mind.

You have a name

Search it. You will get their profile, their grade, their reviews, and whether their license is current. This is the check worth doing on a company that knocked on your door or was recommended by a neighbour, before you agree to anything.

You have a problem

Start with the trade above. Every listing shows the same information, so you can compare several companies on the same terms rather than on how good their websites are.

What a listing here shows you

Every business gets the same profile whether they pay us or not. Paid plans add photos, videos and a contact form. They do not add a better grade.

  • A letter grade, or noneComputed from reviews, license standing and the public record. A blank grade means not enough reviews yet, not a bad business.
  • License status from the stateChecked against the NC boards rather than taken from what the business typed in.
  • Reviews the business cannot deleteThey can reply to any of them. They cannot remove one.
  • Who owns it, where we knowLocally owned, corporate, private equity, or a broker that subcontracts the work out.

Checking a license instead?

Look up any North Carolina general contractor or electrician by name or license number, straight from the state boards.
