100 sq ft needs:
281 pavers
Includes a 5% allowance for waste.
Under pavers you typically want 4 to 6 inches of compacted gravel and about an inch of sand. Use the gravel and sand calculators for those layers.

The base matters more than the surface
Most failed patios and driveways are base failures, not material failures. Get the compacted depth right for Triangle clay and the top layer will outlast the person who laid it.
How this is worked out
No hidden fudge factor. This is the whole calculation.
- Length times width gives the area in square feet.
- The rate you pick sets how far one unit goes, from 6" × 9" (0.375 sq ft) to 6" × 6" (0.25 sq ft) to 12" × 12" (1 sq ft).
- A 5% allowance is added on top for cuts, offcuts and odd shapes.
- The total rounds up, since you cannot buy part of a paver.
