Cody Johnston, PE, MBA, is the founder and principal engineer of Oakline Structural Engineering in Raleigh, NC. He worked in construction before he ever sized a beam, and it shows: Oakline drawings are built for real crews, in a real sequence, without guesswork. Cody holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering (Structures) from NC State, an MBA from East Carolina University, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. In more than a decade of practice he has engineered for architects, universities, zoos, and military entities, but his focus is residential — explaining a homeowner's house in plain English, then standing behind it with a seal.
